Summer is the season of warmth, sun, and eye catching colors and Senna Cosmetics has completely captured this time of year by incorporating emerald, bronze, and orange into their latest collection: Summer Sunglow 2013. Consisting of 10 new products and one new makeup brush the Senna Sunglow Collection for Summer 2013 is definitely one of the most wearable summer collections I’ve seen in a long time!
Eugenia Weston, celebrity makeup artist and founder of Senna Cosmetics, created two distinct looks with this collection: Emerald Isle and Bronzelite. Both looks are based on bronze, glowing skin that will give anyone a soft, easy, glow with minimal effort.
Emerald Isle is warm with rich bronzed skin, emerald eyes, and fiery lips while Bronzelite uses a monochromatic palette of sparkling bronze shades that create a tone on tone vibe to give a wearable, sexy, sun-kissed ethereal softness. Check out this video to see exactly how Eugenia Weston creates these looks using the products from the Senna Sunglow Collection:
Rose Gold (Left) and Emerald (right)
Glow Powder Eyeshadow is incredibly soft with fantastic pigmentation. It has a bit of shimmer to it but it’s definitely not glittery so if you’re worried that you’ll look like a disco ball don’t worry! Glow Powder eyeshadow can be used wet for an amplified metallic finish or dry for a soft, light reflecting finish. I wore these with the Senna Totally Transforming Eyeshadow Primer (check out my review here!) and got 10+ hours of crease resistant wear.
The Brilliant Bronze Baked Mineral Bronzer/Highlighter is a featherweight baked mineral powder that contains a bit of a satin finish. I’ll be honest – I typically prefer matte bronzers for contouring but the finish on these is absolutely GORGEOUS. It gives a slight glow to the skin, even when contouring, so it just helps to illuminate the face completely. Senna Cosmetics baked mineral bronzer & highlighter contains fresh water pearls with amino acids and proteins to hydrate and nourish the skin to help keep it soft and smooth. This product can also be used a few different ways! You can use the lighter side as a highlight, the darker side as a contour, or you can swirl both sides around for a soft warmth suitable for all over the face. This product can also be used as an eyeshadow or brow highlight as well!
Senna Cosmetics’ new brush, the Powder Point (number 33) is the perfect product to apply the baked mineral bronzer. The bristles are so soft and pick up just the right amount of product to deliver the perfect amount of glow. I like to use it like Eugenia suggests: One side for the darker contour color and the other side for the lighter highlight side of the baked bronzer. The slightly pointed tip helps you get product exactly where you need it to go.
I am a sucker for good eyeliner so I was really excited to give the Ultra Last Eyeliner a try. This product comes in two colors, ultra black and ultra brown, and both have amazing staying power. They go on so smoothly and give you a bit of “playtime” before setting completely so if you want a clean look or a smudged look you can get both easily. I have tried these for the last few days in the waterline and out in the ridiculous New York City heat and let me tell you – they do NOT budge! They remove easily with an oil based eye makeup remover, though, so the Senna Cosmetics Ultra Last Eyeliner isn’t one of those liners that you have to fight with when it comes time to take off your makeup. I absolutely hate that!
Midas (Left) and Down to Earth (right)
Senna’s cream lipstick is so smooth! I was honestly a little blown away by its texture because it just felt really luxurious on my lips and I loved that. Down to Earth is a warm, golden chocolate while Midas is a gold metallic. Both of these colors are not something that I’d initially reach for but they’re actually really pretty! I found that Down to Earth was a little too pigmented for my personal taste when applied straight from the tube so I switched to applying it with a lip brush and liked the results much better. I know, since when is having too much pigment a bad thing? I’m crazy. Each Senna lipstick contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, shea butter, and jojoba oil to help hydrate, condition, and protect the lips.
Sunstone (top) and Bonfire (bottom)
I am personally not a lipgloss wearer because I usually find them to be too sticky. Luckily for me the Senna Lip Lacquer isn’t sticky at all! The formula is smooth and actually helps my lips to feel moisturized. Bonfire is a blood orange shine that I LOVE since I’m all about orange lips lately. This color can be applied sheer to help accent your lip color or can be applied a bit heavier for more opaque coverage. Sunstone is a sparkling gold amber with a sheer base that will help to give your natural lips a gorgeous glow or amplify color when applied over lipstick. The Senna Lip Lacquer contains shea butter, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, and mango seed butter to help moisturize and protect lips.

Overall I was VERY pleased with this collection. I think the colors can be worn by pretty much everyone and let me just say, the powder point brush is amazing! I am so glad I had the opportunity to try the Senna Sunglow Collection and I can’t wait to see what else they release in the future. I’m a huge fan!
The Senna Sunglow 2013 Summer Collection retails in price from $18-42 and can be purchased via the official Senna website.
