The Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers (known as Rimmel Apocalips in other countries) have been a part of the US cosmetics market for a few months now but I’m JUST now getting around to finding them for myself. I kind of hate that they’re a Walgreens only release because there are so few Walgreens stores in New York City (and I have yet to find them at Duane Reade).
But either way – I’m going to start doing something new on Beauty 101 where I give you a quick 2 minute review on a product and I figured it would be fun to start with the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers since they’ve been around for awhile and I think I’m the last person on the planet to find them.

The thing that surprised me the most about the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer is the fact that it doesn’t dry down to a matte finish. I expected it to act sort of like a liquid lipstick but instead it is more along the line of a long wearing gloss or lip cream. It kind of reminds me of a glossier version of the NYX Xtreme Lip Cream (which I love).
These were pretty long wearing on me but due to the fact that they’re not matte they didn’t last as long as I expected. I still got a good 5 hours of wear from them, though, and once the glossy finish faded I was left with a nice stain that lingered for a few more hours.
Overall I’d totally recommend that you pick up one (or 6) of these and try them for yourself. They come in a variety of colors ranging from nude to red to mauve and retail for $4.99 on Walgreens.com (I think I paid $6.99 for them in Manhattan… ouch).
Until next time 🙂
