Orly Blush Collection Review and Swatches

If you follow me on Instagram you probably know that I attended the International Beauty Show New York this weekend (otherwise known as IBSNY) and bought WAY too much nail polish… if there even is such a thing. Having seen the Orly Blush Collection online prior to the show I knew that this was one collection that I had to have! I admittedly don’t have a ton of Orly nail polish in my collection so I figured that this would be a great opportunity to try the brand a bit more in-depth and get my hands on a few trendy & popular spring nail polish colors. This post was actually supposed to go up on Tuesday but my internet was TOTALLY jacked up so I’m a few days late… sorry! But ok, enough rambling. Without further adieu I present to you my Orly Blush Collection Review!

ORLY Blush Collection Review + Swatches! Loving these nail polish colors for Spring! #nailpolish #nails #beauty

From the Orly Website:

Fall in love. Step into spring. Tender and real. Natural beauty lacks pretension. Glossy lips. An innocent blush. True beauty blooms in Spring’s fingertips. BLUSH, the wistful new color collection from ORLY.

I feel like this collection describes my personal style to a “T” since I’m ALL about neutrals with a pop of color. After seeing this collection online I was immediately drawn to the bright coral, pink, and dusty mauve shades and once I saw it in person I immediately snatched each color up. I mean, just LOOK at them!

Cheeky is a light orange based coral with gold shimmer. The formula on this one was streaky on the first coat but then leveled out after the second. I’d recommend giving this an extra minute or two between coats as the drying time was also longer than I’m typically used to. I found that when I went right into the second coat that the polish started to get thick and clumpy. After I let the first coat dry a bit, though, the application was easy and smooth.

Classic Contours is a dusty mauve color with a creme finish and is one of the colors I was most excited about. Unfortunately I don’t think it looks good with my skin tone at all! The formula was easy to use and went on opaque after two coats.

Dare To Bare is another color that I was really excited about in the bottle but wasn’t a fan of once I swatched it. This light nude creme finish nail polish is pretty much the EXACT same shade as my skin and, in my opinion, looks absolutely horrible. The formula was also opaque after two coats, smooth, and easy to control.

First Blush is my FAVORITE color from this line. It’s a bright pink based coral that is just so bright & cheery. I’m obsessed with it! It has a creme finish and, like the other creme finishes included in the Orly Blush Collection it has a smooth consistency and is opaque after 2 coats.

Flawless Flush is a light lilac creme with gold shimmer which, like Cheeky, applied streaky on the first coat but leveled out after the second. I also experienced a slightly delayed drying time between coats and found that Flawless Flush got really clumpy really quick if I didn’t use thin coats. This seems pretty standard for the shimmers in this collection… they’re very finicky!

Naked Canvas is a gorgeous off white with a slight mother of pearl iridescence to it. Orly describes this as a shimmer on their site but I’m hard pressed to find any defined shimmer in the formula. Instead it just has a gorgeous purple/pink sheen to it that is only seen when the lighting is just right. It was opaque after two coats and went on smoothly without any issues.

I’ll be honest – I have a love/hate relationship with the ORLY Blush Collection. I had a hard time getting the shimmers to work for me (though they weren’t impossible with thin coats) and I feel like some of the colors didn’t look that great with my skin tone. Β The overall quality of each bottle was great, though, and I think that it’s definitely a gorgeous collection!

You can buy the Orly Blush Collection on the Official Orly Website where each bottle retails for $8.50. It seems that at the time of this post Orly polish is on sale at Ulta where the collection is currently priced at $6.00 (regularly $8.50) so be sure to check that out as well!

I think First Blush is my favorite among the colors you tried, though the delayed dry time between some of the coats is a turn off for me. Having a busy life and demanding kids often means I need to do things (like my nails) on the fly and I need to be able to get them polished and done without too much dry time.
