Spoiler Alert: I just found my favorite bronzer of all time.
I’m not even joking. I was recently browsing Sephora (which, let’s face it, I probably could have done without) and I stumbled across the Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess. It was at that exact moment that the clouds parted, the angels started singing, and I knew that I had uncovered another holy grail product.
Ok, so maybe the angels didn’t sing but it was certainly 60 degrees outside that day so hey – I was in a good mood.
Anyway, we all know I need more makeup like I need a hole in my head but since I had recently just hit pan & run out of my beloved Senna Brilliant Bronze (RIP) I figured that this was the perfect opportunity to try something new.
I feel like I’ve been on the hunt for a good matte bronzer for a hot second. There are tons of great ones on the market, don’t get me wrong, but lately I’ve been having trouble with my bronzer becoming patchy throughout the day so I was really looking for a matte, long wearing, non-orange bronzer that I could use for contouring as well as warming up my complexion as the weather gets warmer. This bronzer definitely checks all those boxes… and more!
Housed in a sleek faux-leather compact with a magnetic closure the Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer contains ingredients such as pure water (to help your skin retain moisture and remain hydrated), vitamins A & E (antioxidants to fight free radicals), vitamin C (another antioxidant that helps to fight the signs of aging while brightening skin), and mineral pigments to provide soothing and softening properties. It is also formulated without parabens, phthalates, and sulfates!
At first glance I was afraid that the color would be too light for my skin tone (because apparently I think my NC20 skin is MUCH darker than it is) but I was hooked at first swatch. I love how warm it is without being too orange or too muddy! It’s a gorgeous golden tone that looks incredibly natural and wearable on the skin.
I know what you all are thinking – but is it waterproof?! It’s not waterproof in the literal sense of the word since I can wash my face and it comes off without a problem but it is incredibly long wearing and has held up well through high humidity, random hot flashes (gotta love it when it’s 60 degrees outside and some stores are still cranking their heat full time!), and all day wear. It has never become patchy or streaky on my skin after an extended wear session and I even wore it to a wedding this past weekend and it lasted through an entire night of dancing out on the dance floor 🙂
What is your holy grail bronzer? Have you tried anything by Tarte before? Comment below and let me know!
Until next time 🙂
