It’s Beauty Box 5 time!
This month Beauty Box 5 wants us all to celebrate what it means to be summer chic while remembering this mantra: less effort, more cool. Through the month of June they recommend focusing on iconic (and easy!) hot weather basics and I couldn’t agree more! As the temperatures are rising I’m finding myself wanting to wear less and less makeup… it never looks good as it’s melting off my face, haha.
Beauty Box 5 recommends applying sunscreen, throwing on a little white dress, and adding a few coats of mascara to beat the heat. Sounds perfect to me!
This month I received the following products in my Beauty Box 5 subscription:
Nicka K New York Nail Color ($4.99): I haven’t had a chance to swatch this yet but Nicka K claims that their polish offers even, long-wear coverage that doesn’t chip. It also has a short brush that makes application easier and a formaldehyde-free formula. I’ll post my swatches on Instagram so be sure to follow me there for updates!
Organix Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner (Sample Packets. Full size products retail for $7.99 each): This shampoo and conditioner offers ultra lightweight hydration that doesn’t weigh hair down and I really enjoyed it! It wasn’t the most hydrating shampoo or conditioner I’ve ever used (it was good, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t anything insane) but I could definitely feel that my hair was softer thanks to its electrolyte and coconut oil infused formula.
Glam Natural Mascara (Sample Size. Retail $28): This mascara claims to be the answer to the sensitive-eye makeup dilemma. Its vegan formula lifts lashes and is gluten-free, paraben-free, and hypoallergenic. I don’t have sensitive eyes so I can’t speak on whether or not this is irritating but I can tell you that it did an okay job at separating my lashes and adding length. The formula is SUPER wet, though, so I didn’t exactly love that.
Eslor Introductory Collection Calming Kit (Sample Packets. Full size retail between $28-65): This paraben free kit included some of Eslor’s all-star products that include a soothing refiner and cleanser, replenishing scrub, comforting mask, and soothing cream that claims to hydrate and protect the skin. I’m dealing with a lot of stupid skin issues right now so I haven’t had a chance to try this out yet but I’m looking forward to it!
Vita Bath Body Wash (Retail $7.95/12oz): This body wash came in the scent Dreamy Pink Frosting which, if we’re being honest, was absolutely obnoxious and artificial smelling. Other than the scent it was perfectly fine as a body wash… nothing new to report.
Overall this box was really great and well worth the $12 retail price, don’t you think? I like that it was a good balance across all the beauty categories and had a little something for hair, skin, nails, and makeup. Some products weren’t my favorite but hey – that’s the beauty of subscription services! It’s fun to try products and figure out what you like and what you don’t like.
Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service and it can be purchased in a few different ways: You can pay $12 monthly, $30 quarterly, or $99 annually. No matter which option you choose you’ll still get your box full of 5 beauty goodies delivered to your door each month. This is my 9th box from Beauty Box 5 and each time the total value of the items has exceeded the $12 monthly cost. Score!
