I love a festive manicure! Independence Day is right around the corner and I am SO excited about this easy Fourth of July manicure that anyone can do. I originally had so many fun ideas in my head (think stars, stripes, the whole 9 yards) but I ended up settling on messy fireworks because I thought they were quick, fun, and easy enough to be done by any skill level. I also threw in a quick and easy Fourth of July polka dot manicure for good measure because you know how much I love a dotted manicure!
To complete this Fourth of July Manicure you’ll need a few nail art tools. I bought my dotting tool set at a trade show (though you can get the same one here on Amazon for a great price) and I found my brush set on Amazon (this is the same one, only it’s PINK so obviously that means it’s better). You’ll need a large dotting tool, a thin striping brush, and a flat nail art brush.
I first started with a two coats of Cover Girl Snow Storm and let it dry completely. Then I used my thin striping brush and went in with Morgan Taylor Wonder Woman (red) and Morgan Taylor Deja Blue (blue) to make the fireworks. Using each color I started with an “X” and then kept adding to it until I got the firework as big as I wanted. Seriously there is no rhyme or reason for this… just keep drawing the lines until it looks good to you! I then used my flat top nail art brush dipped in acetone to clean up any polish that I may have gotten on the skin around my nails.
Of course I used my holy grail duo for my base/top coat: OPI Nail Envy as a base and Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat to seal everything together. You know I won’t polish my nails without these two! They’re my favorite things on the earth!
And that’s it! See – it’s seriously SO easy!
Oh, and bonus! I played around with nail art for a little while and before I decided on fireworks I thought it would be fun to put together a patriotic polka dot manicure. I don’t have a tutorial for this because I think it’s pretty self explanatory but I wanted to show it to you anyway just in case fireworks aren’t your thing.
What are you using on your nails this Fourth of July? Anything exciting? Comment below and let me know!
Until next time 🙂
