So… I think the makeup Gods over at L’Oreal read my mind sometimes and the new L’Oreal Colour Riche Glossy Balm lip pencils are perfect examples of this. No, seriously – if I could describe my perfect lip product it would be made up of these three qualities:
- cohesive color collection that includes brights
- lightweight (but pigmented!) formula
- twist up chubby pencil packaging
The new L’Oreal Colour Riche Glossy Balm lip crayons are exactly these things! See what I mean? Mind = read.
The new L’Oreal Colour Riche Glossy Balm gives lips a dose of pigment while giving off an incredibly gorgeous shine. I’ll be honest – the first time I used these bad boys I slathered my lips in the product and I definitely used WAY too much. You know that thing that happens when you use too much lipstick/gloss/whatever? That weird line you get when you press your lips together? Yeah, I totally had that going on. No worries, though, a quick blot later and all was right in the world. If we’re being honest here (and really, when are we not?) I loved the shine that I had going on when I was wearing 10x the intended amount of product but I REALLY loved the way my lips looked after I did a quick blot. The balm-like qualities of the Glossy Balm pencils really came out and I felt like my lips were hydrated while being drenched in color. Love that!
My lips have been SUPER dry this summer (which isn’t typical for me, but whatever) so I find myself being picky when it comes to my lip of the day choices. I LOVE matte colors but right now my lips can’t handle them in the slightest so I’ve been reaching more for stains, glosses, and balms. Lucky for me these awesome pencils combine all three! They have a high shine balm feel to them and leave a stain behind long after the gloss has worn off. And you know what else is awesome? I never feel like my lips are dry or in need of conditioning when I’m wearing the L’Oreal Colour Riche Glossy Balm. My lips just feel hydrated and soft the entire time which I’m pretty much obsessed with it.
The color above is #220 “Innocent Coral” and honestly I’m a little confused about the name on this one. I guess when I think of coral I think orange (especially since the package leans that way as well) but this actually came off as a gorgeous pink that leans ever so slightly towards coral. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike this color in the slightest, but I just wish it was more orange because I LOVE me some orange lips.
The second color I picked up was #240 “Pink Me Up” which is a gorgeous bright pink might very well be my go-to summer lip from here on out. I love how it’s bright enough to draw attention to itself but soft enough to be pretty low maintenance. It fades from the lips gracefully and I never worry that my lipstick is looking all crazy after I’ve gone a little too long between touchups. It really is perfect!
The L’Oreal Colour Riche Glossy Balm comes in 8 shades ranging from nude to plum and everything in between. I’m really hoping that L’Oreal releases more colors in this range because I’d really REALLY love to see a true orange and maybe a bright purple. Cross your fingers!
