I have to say – the new limited edition Tarte Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay Eye & Cheek Palette might be my first palette from the brand but it will certainly not be my last. I am so obsessed with it because it is literally everything you need to do a complete face (minus foundation/powder and mascara, of course) and it contains my favorite bronzer of all time, Park Avenue Princess so hello – it truly is perfect!
This palette was inspired by the rainforest’s deep orchid hues at dusk and has everything you could ever want or need to create a variety of looks from sultry to sophisticated and everything in between. Each product in the Rainforest After Dark palette is infused with colored clay which naturally color corrects and supports oil control, longer wear, and serious color payoff. How amazing is that? The colored clay comes from Brazil and brightens, evens, and soothes skin without settling into fine lines and wrinkles. Consider me a colored clay addict from here on out… the formula on each of the colors in this palette is fantastic!
Let’s talk packaging, shall we? The Tarte Rainforest After Dark Palette is housed in a beautiful compact with a faux wood finish that is about the size of a CD. In my opinion it’s a little too large to carry in your purse on a daily basis but it’s not too large or bulky to where it’s going to be awkward for every day use/storage within your makeup collection. And seriously – look at that design on the top! I’m obsessed with the jewel detail on the snake and feel like it’s such a fun and unique touch.
The Rainforest After Dark palette contains one highlighter (Champagne), one bronzer (Park Avenue Princess), one blush, (unleashed), and a variety of 6 eyeshadows that all fall into the neutral family. You all know that my love for Park Avenue Princess is strong (read my review here) so I won’t go into that too much but I DO want to talk about how insane this blush is. I’ve always heard amazing things about Tarte blush but had never picked any up because I’m a recovering blush addict and was trying to slow down my obsession. Yeah, I can see why people are obsessed – Unleashed is absolutely gorgeous! The pigmentation is fantastic (a little goes a long way!) and the staying power is perfect. It has been HOT in NYC lately so I’m always a little worried that my makeup is going to start looking streaky and crazy after awhile. I’m happy to report that this blush has carried me through even the hottest days without making me look like a hot mess. Love that!
Now… I need to tell you about the eyeshadow because I’m seriously blown away. Each and every shade in this palette is buttery smooth with stunning pigmentation but the standout shade for sure is “Up To No Gold”. It is so incredibly smooth and it has such a gorgeous metallic sheen that makes it look like liquid metal in certain light. It is, by far, one of the BEST eyeshadows I’ve ever used. Now don’t get me wrong – the other colors included in the Rainforest After Dark Palette are all amazing (seriously – there are no bad ones in the bunch) but “Up To No Gold” is something else entirely.
Overall, in case you couldn’t tell, I am so impressed with this palette and would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a true all-in-one palette that will be great for starting your makeup collection, travel, or even if you just want to try something new. It’s a great option for you if you’re looking to try a wide variety of Tarte products as well since it contains a little bit of everything.
You can buy the Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette at Ulta and Sephora where it retails for $38 (which I personally think is an amazing price) while supplies last. This one is limited edition so if you want it get it now while you still can!
