Now that I’ve moved into a new apartment that is 20 minutes farther away from my office I’m learning the beauty of a well-oiled nighttime routine. I used to live a good distance closer to work so I could get away with leaving later which means I didn’t have to get up quite that early… a luxury I miss if we’re being honest. While the new apartment is TOTALLY worth it I’m finding that if can use the right products the night before that the next morning goes much smoother and I’m all about those extra few minutes of sleep I’m able to get.
Typically as soon as I get home I walk my dogs, feed them, and then change out of my work clothes and wash my makeup off. The Vichy Purete Thermale Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil is my jam and does a bangin’ job at removing my makeup quickly and effectively. Don’t get me wrong – I still follow up with a cleanser but when all I want to do is take off my makeup and relax (AKA fall asleep on the couch, let’s get serious) this product gets it done in no time.
Once my skin is cleansed I reach for skincare and the Vichy Idealia Eye Contour Idealizer is my current go-to. Not only does it reduce the look of fine lines (something I’m dreading since I’ll be the big 3-0 NEXT WEEK) but it also brightens the appearance of dark circles which means that I’m a huge fan of it in the morning as well. I love how it leaves my under eye area feeling soft and hydrated, especially since the weather is starting to cool down and my skin is constantly dry and flaky.
Hydrating my skin is a huge priority for me at night, especially during the cooler months, so I always make sure to apply lotion before I hit the sack. Recently I was given the opportunity to try the new Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturizer and I was super excited because who doesn’t want something quick and easy right before bed? That’s when I’m at my absolute laziest so the fact that I can literally just spray this on my body and call it good is pretty much my idea of the perfect situation.
The Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturizer has 2x the moisture of other Vaseline Spray Moisturizers thanks to the inclusion of Vaseline Jelly micro-droplets in its formula. Even though it has amazing hydration properties it absorbs almost instantly into my skin and doesn’t leave a greasy residue which I LOVE. And while I don’t mind scented products I actually really enjoy the fact that this specific product is unscented.
This next one might be weird but just go with me on it… I use dry shampoo every single night without fail. I do this because the layer of product I apply before going to bed will help to control oil throughout the night so I wake up to a fresh(er) style. I’m still not washing my hair every day and thanks to using Redken’s Pillow Proof Two Day Extender every night before bed, I don’t have to. It also saves me precious minutes each morning because I can just throw on my super awesome shower cap, take a quick shower, and I’m good to go. Sometimes I’ll reapply dry shampoo in the morning but it really depends on what day of the wash cycle I’m on.
If you’re wondering – 9 times out of 10 I wash my hair in the morning on my day off so I don’t have to go to work with wet hair since I don’t blow dry. You can read more about how I stopped washing my hair daily here.
Right before I go to sleep I slather my lips in the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask and, as evidenced by my very well-loved tube, this is a huge part of my routine. I’ve been using this product nightly for about a year and I can’t say enough amazing things about it. I even keep a tube in my office because there are just some days where regular lip balm won’t cut it and I need the magic of this mask on my lips ASAP. This particular tube is the Champagne version but I’ve also used the original (that’s what I keep at my office) and love it just as much. I’ll probably swap them soon, actually, since a little goes a long way and the tube at work is practically brand new. This one has for sure seen better days…
That’s it! My goal at night before bed is to get ready as quickly as I can so that I can sleep the longest amount of time possible before getting up for work. Now that I’m waking up earlier than I’m used to I’m starting to value each and every minute of sleep I can get, haha. Luckily with these products I’m in bed in no time and many of them even make my mornings more streamlined which means I can sleep even LONGER. Who doesn’t want that?
Until next time 🙂
