Is it weird that I’m essentially doing an entire post on my trash? Probably. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to do it.
Never in my life have I had ALL my favorite products run out at the exact same time. I mean, maybe “exact same time” is a bit of an exaggeration but I’m not joking when I say that each of these products ran out within the same week making me a very, very sad girl. And what does one do with all of these empty bottles? Photograph them and talk about each one on the internet, obviously.
I won’t go into a big long thing about each one because, chances are, I’ve talked about them before but I thought it would be fun to share my current favorites with you as evidenced by their empty bottle counterparts:
Lots of haircare products bit the dust at the same time: Redken Frizz Dismiss Instant Deflate FPF 30 Serum + Rebel Tame FPF 40 Cream have been daily staples in my routine ever since the line launched in April. Now that I hardly blow dry my hair anymore I love the fact that I can use these two products (Rebel Tame on wet hair and Instant Deflate on dry hair) to keep my natural waves controlled and frizz free with very minimal effort. I still don’t wash my hair that often (I did a whole post about it here) so naturally I rely on dry shampoo like it’s my lifeline. I go through a can of Redken Pillow Proof Two Day Extender about every two weeks… and now that I say that out loud it sounds like that’s way too fast, haha. Oh well – I love it! In the teal can on the upper right hand side of the picture is a lab sample of Redken’s newest hairspray, Triple Take 32, which is now officially out in salons in a much prettier can. This is the strongest hairspray Redken makes and it has superior humidity control and style memory with ZERO crunch. I can literally spray this in my hair until the can is empty and my hair looks totally normal. No helmet hair here!
As far as skincare goes I went through yet another jar of my holy grail eye makeup remover, the Almay Longwear & Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Pads. These have been a constant staple in my routine since…. I want to say 2008 but it might even be 2007 which is absolutely insane to me. I won’t even try other eye makeup removers because these little pads are so good. God help me if they are ever discontinued… I don’t know what I’ll do. I also went through a bottle of the Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect serum as well as my first bottle of Bioderma. The Boots No. 7 serum is a favorite of mine but the Bioderma I’m still on the fence about. I liked it, don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t love it enough to rush out and buy another bottle. I’m still contemplating that one.
For makeup I finished my first bottle of Cover FX Custom Cover Drops in the shade G30 and while I absolutely love the concept of this product and the results it gives me I feel like I go through the bottle REALLY fast. Maybe that’s because I need full coverage 24/7 and literally add 3-5 drops to everything from my foundation to my concealer and sometimes even my primer depending on the finish I’m going for. G30 was a perfect match for me but since I am still on that self-tan bandwagon (see my spray tan tips here) I found that it was making my foundation and concealer too light. I’ve since graduated to G40 and find that it’s a much better match for me when I’ve got a bit of a tan. I also went through a bottle of Urban Decay All nighter Makeup Setting Spray and immediately repurchased another because it’s just that good. Not pictured in the above image (because I forgot) is an empty YSL Touche Eclat pen which, if you’re wondering, I haven’t repurchased. I liked it but, like with the Bioderma, wasn’t instantly rushing out the door to replace it.
I also finished a few random things like my favorite candle of all time, the Alex and Ani Nautical Anchor Candle, and went through an entire bottle of perfume for the first time in 29 years. Never in my life have I finished a fragrance so this was quite the milestone for me. This particular bottle is Paco Rabanne Lady Million which will always be a favorite of mine. I haven’t repurchased it yet since I have SO many other fragrances I’m trying to rotate through but just know that I miss it very much. Luckily I have a rollerball to get me through but I’m thinking I might cave and repurchase this soon because I just love it!
Ok so remember that time when I said I wasn’t going to ramble during this post? Yeah, I lie.
